Sister, Sister!

Today is my sister’s birthday and she is the big 26! We have so many good memories, and I love how we are best friends. Happy Birthday Chell!

Road Trip!

So, we spontaneously went to COLORADO! It was really fun to just go on a trip to somewhere we have never been.  Everything was going great and we were making good time until all of the sudden the freeway was closed! We are in Colorado in this canyon and then the freeway was totally closed and we couldn’t get through. We were only 2 hours away from our hotel. It was 9pm by this point and we didn’t know what to do. We had never heard of a whole freeway being shut down before with no detour option.  We were determined to find a way to our destination. Thank goodness for navigation systems! We found this tiny side road and went for another adventure. It was a narrow canyon and it was snowing like crazy. We were wide-awake at this point – scared for our lives. Finally 5 hours later we arrived at our hotel at 3am.

We went to the Dave Ramsey financial event and it was really good! Then we had a fun date night, which is always fun. It was a great weekend and nice to get away. I think I am going to try and implement more weekend trips into our lives.

This is a sign we saw during our detour adventure. It was like 1:30 in the morning and we thought it was hilarious! We had to stop and take a picture.

Update and Goodbye

On Friday Curt and I went and looked at our home to see how the progress was going, and wow were we surprised. It is coming along a lot faster than we thought it would. Instead of them being done mid May or end of May, they are saying they will be done in 2 or 3 weeks! They are putting in the cabinets today and Tuesday, counter tops are on Wednesday, wood floors are going in on the weekend, then we have carpet and plumbing (like sinks and toilets), and then it is finished! We hurried home and put our apartment contract up for sell and need to have someone take it over May 1st. I am so excited and am glad that it is going so well. I just hope nothing happens to slow the progress because then we won't have a place to live.

I thought that since we will be moving soon, I would post some pics as a little goodbye to our apartment.

April Fools' Day...What a Joke

Ok, so this might be a weird post, but I really dislike April Fools' Day. I think it is the dumbest "holiday". Some of you might not agree, but I just don't see the point. Curt and I have vowed never to do any pranks on each other on April 1st. We even pinky promised. I am glad that he agrees with me on this issue. How weird is it to have a whole day devoted to pulling pranks on people? I just don't think it is very nice, and most people don't enjoy getting pranked (think of an episode of Punk'd). It is a selfish and cruel "holiday" really. You purposely embarrass someone to make yourself feel good and to laugh at their expense.

Sorry, that was just something I had to get off my chest. Does anyone agree with me on this issue or are you an April Fools' Day fan? I am not saying you are a horrible person if you love April Fools' Day, but maybe think about the people you are planning on doing the prank to and only do it to people that are April Fools' Day fans as well. You can obviously do whatever you want, but it's just a thought.

I am glad that Curt and I don't participate in this "holiday". Curt and I have decided to be extra nice on April 1st and reverse the meaning! We invite all to join us in our pursuit to change this holiday!

Finally a Place to Call Our Own

I can't believe it is finally happening. Curt and I are buying a house! Well, a townhome really. It is being built at the moment and we can't wait for it to be finished. It should be done sometime in May, so May is going to be a great month with moving into our house and going to the Bahamas. It doesn't seem real though and I still can't picture myself living in this really nice house. I am so excited to have brand new stuff! I even got to pick out our carpet, countertops, tile, wood, cabinets, paint, etc. It was so much fun picking it out and realizing that this was going to be our house! I am really looking forward to decorating, but wish it didn't cost so much. Hopefully I can still make it cute on a budget. I am going to post pictures of its progress, so look for more pictures to come!

77 Days 'Til...

Curt and I love to celebrate our anniversary. When our first anniversary was approaching I didn't know how we would celebrate. I had always wanted to go to Hawaii but didn't think I would go until I was older. I started to look at prices just for fun and found a great deal. So...our first year we went to Hawaii and it was incredible! We swam with dolphins, kind of swam with a shark on accident (that is a story for another time), went to the Polynesian Cultural Center, went Parasailing, went on a Sunset Dinner Cruise, went Snorkeling, and hung out at the beach. It was one of the best vacations I have ever been on.

Then faster than we thought, our second anniversary was coming along. I think Curt thought that since we did Hawaii last year that we would take it easy the next coming year, like go out to dinner or something cheap. I had mentioned like 6 months before how I would love to go to Cancun, and he thought it would be too expensive, so I let it drop. But what he didn't know was I was researching and researching and trying to find a good deal. Yep, you guessed it I found another good deal and presented the trip to him. Of course he couldn't say no to me and my good deal, and so off to Cancun we went for our second year anniversary. We were total beach bums and I couldn't get enought of it. We also went to a place called Xel-Ha and it was amazing! We went snorkeling, floated down a river in the jungle (literally had to duck and stuff to not get hit by branches), drank a lot of Pina Coladas (virgin of course!), and went on another Sunset Cruise. This sunset cruise was the best night of my entire life. We went sailing first and then came back to the shore and had a romantic dinner. The sand was like powder sugar, no joke, I had never seen anythign like it. Our dinner was under this big white tent that was open to the ocean and it was lit by torches, and a saxophone player in the backgroung, AND it was a full moon that night which happened to be the exact day of our anniversary. Plus the meal was great. We danced on the beach while gazing up a the stars. There was also like a forest of palm trees a few feet from the beachy area and they were all lit up with white lights. It was something right out of a movie, better actually. Anyway, sorry I was getting carried away.

By this time Curt knew that when our third year came around I was going to want to go on another trip. At first we thought we would do something smaller like go to San Diego and have fun there. But you know me, the little thought of, "maybe you should go somewhere more tropical and somewhere you have never been before", kept creeping up in my mind. So I did what I always did, I researched and researched until I found a good deal. I was a little nervous to present the plan this time to Curt since he thought we were already set on San Diego. I told him my thoughts and presented the trip for our third anniversary to go to the (drum role please)...BAHAMAS!...and he said let's do it! I was so excited I couldn't stop talking about it or thinking about it. We are going on May 16th and I am counting down the days. We are staying at a place called Atlantis and if you get a chance go to atlantis.com.

I am so glad we have been able to go on these amazing trips and am looking forward to what this next one will bring. I think it might be our best one yet!

Bahamas here we come!

Catching Up

So I am really bad at this whole blog thing. I am going to try and be better though. Since I wrote last, I have a new job now as well. I work at a company called Prosper and I am an Executive Assistant there. Things are going well there and I am glad that I am no longer at my old job. We are still living in Orem and enjoying it so far. Curt is still in school and is working full time. He goes to school in the evenings, Monday through Thursday 5:30pm to 8pm and I don't love it, and neither does he.

Well, I got here thinking I had so much to catch you up on, but really it is the same old, same old. I am trying to think of something new to tell you but nothing is coming to mind. Oh, this was quite a while ago, but for my birthday in October I went and saw Phantom of the Opera in Las Vegas. It was absolutely incredible!!! Everyone needs to see it. There are 2 showings on Saturday nights and we went to the first showing, and we were so close to paying again to see the second showing. I guess I shouldn't talk it up too much, but it was amazing!

I need think of better things to tell you on my blog, otherwise you won't come back to read anything else.
