Home Sweet Home

We are all moved into our house and we are loving it! We got to move in on Thursday, April 30th and were finished by Saturday night, May 2nd. Yes, including decorating and putting things on the walls. Curt and I have a hard time not getting everything done as fast a possible. We worked really hard and stayed up soooo late. I don't think I have ever been so exhausted in my entire life. My body ached and I had a hard time functioning by the end of it. But now it is amazing and I am glad we did it so fast because moving is not the most enjoyable thing.

Having our own home has been unbelievable. I knew it was going to be great, but not this great! It is so nice having a garage! Oh, and the laundry room is one of my favorites! In the 3 years we have been married we have never had a washer and dryer and boy is it nice now. I will never go to a landromat again!

One thing that we are having to get used to is not being able to hear each other no matter where we are at in the house. I will be in one room and will start to tell something to Curt, but he can't even hear me. We are not used to that since our first two apartments were pretty much just one big room. Like the other day, I started to tell him something while I was downstairs but he didn't respond. So I went looking for him and I had to look a couple places. I finally found him in our walk-in closet. (Yes, a walk-in closet! It is amazing!). It is not that our house is super big, but that our apartments were so small. We love all of the space!

Ok, so I know you are all probably looking for pictures on here, but you won't find them. Curt and I have decided not to post any pictures of our new home. Pictures just don't do it justice. You can't get the real effect through pictures. Plus I want all of you to just come and see it instead. So, if you want to see our home, come on over!

Surprise!

Curt's birthday is next month, and I always start planning for it far in advance. I can't help it, I love celebrating his birthday! He tells me every year that he doesn't want anything and to not do something big or expensive. He says his birthday present is me not spending money on him. Well, of course he said it again this year. I didn't listen to him the last 3 years, so I don't know why he thought I would do anything different this year. To me your birthday is a holiday, so why not go all out! I decided to get him tickets to the Il Divo concert!

They are coming to Utah on June 5th, so we will be celebrating a little early. I had to give it to him last night because I wanted it to be a surprise and didn't want him to find out the bank statement way. He was really surprised and loved it! He really likes Il Divo and has all of their songs. We are both really excited to go. He did tell me though that I can't get him anything else, and that the tickets are more than enough. But we will see. Happy Early Birthday Curt! I love you!

Sister, Sister!

Today is my sister’s birthday and she is the big 26! We have so many good memories, and I love how we are best friends. Happy Birthday Chell!

Road Trip!

So, we spontaneously went to COLORADO! It was really fun to just go on a trip to somewhere we have never been.  Everything was going great and we were making good time until all of the sudden the freeway was closed! We are in Colorado in this canyon and then the freeway was totally closed and we couldn’t get through. We were only 2 hours away from our hotel. It was 9pm by this point and we didn’t know what to do. We had never heard of a whole freeway being shut down before with no detour option.  We were determined to find a way to our destination. Thank goodness for navigation systems! We found this tiny side road and went for another adventure. It was a narrow canyon and it was snowing like crazy. We were wide-awake at this point – scared for our lives. Finally 5 hours later we arrived at our hotel at 3am.

We went to the Dave Ramsey financial event and it was really good! Then we had a fun date night, which is always fun. It was a great weekend and nice to get away. I think I am going to try and implement more weekend trips into our lives.

This is a sign we saw during our detour adventure. It was like 1:30 in the morning and we thought it was hilarious! We had to stop and take a picture.

Update and Goodbye

On Friday Curt and I went and looked at our home to see how the progress was going, and wow were we surprised. It is coming along a lot faster than we thought it would. Instead of them being done mid May or end of May, they are saying they will be done in 2 or 3 weeks! They are putting in the cabinets today and Tuesday, counter tops are on Wednesday, wood floors are going in on the weekend, then we have carpet and plumbing (like sinks and toilets), and then it is finished! We hurried home and put our apartment contract up for sell and need to have someone take it over May 1st. I am so excited and am glad that it is going so well. I just hope nothing happens to slow the progress because then we won't have a place to live.

I thought that since we will be moving soon, I would post some pics as a little goodbye to our apartment.

April Fools' Day...What a Joke

Ok, so this might be a weird post, but I really dislike April Fools' Day. I think it is the dumbest "holiday". Some of you might not agree, but I just don't see the point. Curt and I have vowed never to do any pranks on each other on April 1st. We even pinky promised. I am glad that he agrees with me on this issue. How weird is it to have a whole day devoted to pulling pranks on people? I just don't think it is very nice, and most people don't enjoy getting pranked (think of an episode of Punk'd). It is a selfish and cruel "holiday" really. You purposely embarrass someone to make yourself feel good and to laugh at their expense.

Sorry, that was just something I had to get off my chest. Does anyone agree with me on this issue or are you an April Fools' Day fan? I am not saying you are a horrible person if you love April Fools' Day, but maybe think about the people you are planning on doing the prank to and only do it to people that are April Fools' Day fans as well. You can obviously do whatever you want, but it's just a thought.

I am glad that Curt and I don't participate in this "holiday". Curt and I have decided to be extra nice on April 1st and reverse the meaning! We invite all to join us in our pursuit to change this holiday!

Finally a Place to Call Our Own

I can't believe it is finally happening. Curt and I are buying a house! Well, a townhome really. It is being built at the moment and we can't wait for it to be finished. It should be done sometime in May, so May is going to be a great month with moving into our house and going to the Bahamas. It doesn't seem real though and I still can't picture myself living in this really nice house. I am so excited to have brand new stuff! I even got to pick out our carpet, countertops, tile, wood, cabinets, paint, etc. It was so much fun picking it out and realizing that this was going to be our house! I am really looking forward to decorating, but wish it didn't cost so much. Hopefully I can still make it cute on a budget. I am going to post pictures of its progress, so look for more pictures to come!
